Her career in journalism began with Myrtle Beach South Carolina as an anchor and reporter for news for WPDE-TV. Then she became a morning reporter and anchor for WCBD TV. Her reporting of the ineffective responses of police officers towards DUI instances in Charleston resulted in an investigation by State Law Enforcement Division, which resulted in a new policy from state officials regarding DUI cases. Ms. O'Dell received the Best Report of the Media Award in South Carolina by the Associated Press. In the years following her stay at Charleston, O'Dell worked as anchor for the NBC's Miami Station WTVJ-TV as well as an investigative reporter. She then became a part of Access Hollywood to work as the weekend and weekday correspondent. Alongside her work as a lead anchor for Access Hollywood Ms. O'Dell also contributes to NBC News' Today and in addition for Dateline NBC. She has covered major events like The Oscars, The Emmys, The Grammys, and The Golden Globe Awards. In addition to co-hosting Pre-ShowArrivals in preparation for The Emmys & The Golden Globes. She hosted both the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants.
